Explore the Incas’ legacy

This one-week tour will focus on Cusco, the Sacred Valley in Peru, including the area’s crown glory, Machu Picchu.

You will spend the day adjusting to the altitude, so this will be a day of leisure.

This picturesque village located in the Scared Valley is where you seen, and be able to purchase, the colourful and beautiful textiles made by the locals.

You will visit one of the largest archaeological complex in Peru, which was strategically placed on the mountain. Enjoy a traditional lunch then head over to Pisac, where you will explore the ruins that overlook the Vilcanota River.

Your next stop is in the town of Maras, where one of the world’s finest salts is extracted. The terraces and lagoons will be the best place for you to take exceptional photographs. Experience Uganda wildlife

Explore the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a World Heritage site. Bwindi is one of the most diverse forests in Uganda. It is home to more than 120 mammals, 345 species of bird 200 species of butterflies and 160 species of trees.

With both a riverine and savannah habitat, the southern Ishasha area includes the massive Maramagambo, one of the largest surviving natural forests in Uganda. Enjoy the afternoon game drives — looking for herds of buffalo, elephants, leopards, hippos, Uganda kob, baboon, and of course, the famous tree-climbing lion.

The Mweya sector is rich with wildlife, visitors will find vast numbers of Uganda’s unique and strange Euphorbia, or “candelabra” tree. You’ll enjoy a leisure boat ride along the Kazinga Channel, where you will see countless species of birds, lazy buffalo and pods of hippos wallowing without a care.

You’ll spend your morning keeping your eyes open to view the very active chimpanzees. They are quote active, moving quickly through the forest canopy — and if you’re lucky, you will find them eating near the forest floor or resting. It’s an amazing walk, but sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Explore Costa Rica

Costa Rica is a dream for the nature lover and adventure buff! During this unforgettable journey, you will discover the country’s diverse and breathtaking landscapes.

Located on the Caribbean coast, Tortuguero is one of the world’s most important nesting sites for the endangered green sea turtle. Nesting for green sea turtles happens July through October, and loggerhead, hawkbill and leatherback turtles nesting is March through June.

Let’s go explore the wildlife-rich canals of Tortuguero National Park and seek out howler, spider and capuchin monkeys, sloths and a variety of birds. You will get a chance to relax by the lodge pool or stroll along the beach, or if you want more adventure, there is a kayak excursion available.

Situated at the foot of the majestic Arenal Volcano, you will visit a coffee cooperative to gain insight into the process of coffee production — bean to cup! And the best part … you get to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee! 

In 1968, the Arenal Volcano erupted and converted this quiet agricultural town (La Fortuna) into a hot spot for adventure travel. Do stand-up paddleboarding on Lake Arenal, venture into the world of stalactites, stalagmites, and subterranean species on a visit to the Venado Cave, rappel down a rushing waterfall, or relax in naturally heated outdoor spa provided by Arenal Volcano.

You will hike the stunning Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve, treading past giant ferns and vibrant orchids. You can also embark on a zip-lining adventure, gliding high above the treetops and zooming through the misty foliage; or experience the astonishing biodiversity of the forest canopy on a walk across hanging bridges.

Travel to Costa Rica’s Pacific coast and soak up the laid-back atmosphere by relaxing on the beach, go surfing, snorkelling, horseback riding, or dolphin watching on a catamaran. You will also visit the national park, where you can explore nearby hiking trails to search for sloths, monkeys and armadillos.

The beauty of Iceland

From volcanoes to bubbling hot springs — and everything in-between — the beauty of Iceland is a sight to behold.

One thing you need to do is experience the Blue Lagoon thermal pools. We definitely need to book these before your arrival! During the winter months (November through early March) itineraries are subject to change based on weather conditions and less daylight hours.

On your way to Skaftafell, you will travel south along the coast and stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfall, then visit the geothermal garden in Hverageroi, a hot spring village, where you will have to taste black bread and eggs baked directly in a hot spring. You will also stop in the Lava Centre, an interactive exhibition to learn about Iceland’s unique geography.

Today you will visit the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon to see the floating icebergs and the adjacent black sand Diamond Beach, often scattered with chunks of ice that have drifted in. Then you’ll continue to Vatnajokull National Park for a hike to Svartifoss waterfall and stop at farm in Oræfi to see one of Iceland’s historic turf churches.

Today you’ll step onto the massive Vatnajokull Ice Cap in Skaftafell National Park with a hike on a glacier to see the incredible ice formations up close. In the afternoon stop at Reynisfjara beach for a stroll on the black sand beach before arriving to Vik for the night.

Visit to the Skógar Folk Museum before getting to the powerful Skógafoss waterfall, one of the biggest in Iceland with a viewing platform for incredible photo opportunities. Continue on to the Golden Circle route, stopping at Gulfoss waterfall and then Geysir to see the water spew high up into the air.

Set out in the morning for a walk in Pingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site where two of earth’s tectonic plates meet. Then visit a farm to learn about Icelandic traditional farming practices before tucking into a farm-to-table lunch. In the afternoon continue to western Island and the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.

Head south this morning to the scenic fjord of Borgarfjorður where you’ll stop to see two different waterfalls before visiting the small village of Reykholt. Continue to the Deildartunguhver hot spring which is the highest flowing hot spring in Europe and is used to heat parts of western Iceland.

Rhine castles and Swiss Alps

Today’s excursion will take us to Perthshire, via Culloden Moor, the site of the 1746 Battle of Culloden. Today will also include an impressive display from working sheepdogs. We’ll end our day in Perthshire with a “wee dram!”

Discover Portugal

You will embark on a weeklong journey, covering the country’s best sites, beautiful and tasty wine regions, and splendid Gothic and Romanesque architecture.

Visit a local painting atelier then move on to medieval Sintra.  Enjoy a guided tour of Sintra National Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Today will have you walking along cobblestoned streets along the palace walls in Obidos, then stopping at a charming fishing village of Nazare, then finish the day where you will join a Portuguese cooking class.

You’ll journey to Tomar, where you’ll visit the World Heritage-listed Convent of Christ and the 15th-century Synagogue and sample some of the local pastries.

Visit the famous Joanina Library, then enjoy some free time in the city centre before heading to the next stop in Viseu.

Today you’ll visit a traditional cheesemaker, who will let you in on the secrets behind Viseu’s delicious buttery cheese. After a tasting you’ll move on to historic Lamego, which is home to the 18th-century Shrine of Our Lady of Remedies.

This morning you’ll board a train and make the scenic journey to Pinhao, with plenty of magnificent views of the Douro River along the way. When you get there, you’ll take a leisurely boat trip to Peso da Régua in an electric rabelo boat.

After heading to Amarante this morning (where you’ll see the 16th-century Sao Gonçalo Church), you’ll visit the Aveleda Winery in Penafiel. Here, you’ll savour a glass of the region’s famous green wine and learn more about the winemaking process before you move on to lovely Braga.

After learning about the castle, the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza and the historic city centre on a walking tour with a local guide, you’ll have a free afternoon to relax. This evening, you’ll enjoy one last dinner together accompanied by a traditional dance performance.

Your journey will end in Porto, where you’ll tick off some important landmarks including the Clerigos Tower, Aliados Avenue, the cathedral and the Ribeira district. This afternoon you’ll visit the famous port wine cellars and indulge in a tasting before your trip ends.

The best of Greece

Travel through mountain scenery around Mt Parnassos to Delphi. Enjoy a visit to the ancient city of Delphi and the Temple of Apollo, then spend the evening exploring the charming little town or relaxing in a small café enjoying the views of the nearby valley.

Described as one of Greece’s prettiest towns, explore the narrow pedestrian streets of Nafplio. Opt to climb the Acronafplia to soak in the views.

Enjoy the day relaxing at one of the many harbour-side cafés. Wander the streets of the old town with its fascinating blend of ancient and modern Turkish and Venetian architecture, reflecting the diverse history of the island.

Travel by private transfer and ferry to hike in the Samariá Gorge. Spend the night in Agia Roumeli, a remote fishing village. Connected with neighbouring towns by sea or footpaths, the town has retained its charm. Enjoy time for swimming or relaxing on the beach.

You’ll travel by ferry to Loutro. The majestic scenery, crystal-clear Mediterranean water, friendly people and peaceful atmosphere all make Loutro an ideal place to relax after all the distance travelled. You have a chance to rent a kayak and explore secluded beaches and coves. This evening, enjoy a cooking class and dinner with a local family.

Enjoy a visit to Knossos, site of a Minoan palace and residence of King Minos.

Hop a ferry to the beautiful Santorini. Enjoy two nights on the island. Fira, the main town, sits perched on the edge of the caldera with breathtaking views of multi-coloured cliffs, sugar-cube architecture, and great shopping.

Dominican Republic

This has been a favourite Caribbean escape for many people. The Dominican Republic is known for its beaches, resorts and golfing. There is a wide range of diverse accommodations, we just need to figure out what you want to experience — and find your spot on the beach!

Beaches:
Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, the Dominican Republic has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The white sands of Punta Cana in the east and La Romana in the south are dream-worthy. In the north, the beaches of Puerto Plata are very pretty. Featuring big waves, it’s ideal for surfing, windsurfing, swimming and even scuba diving.

Rum, cigars and amber:
Traces of colonialism are still visible in several cities. Near La Romana and in the capital, Santo Domingo, you can visit rum or handmade cigar factories. If you prefer jewellery to tobacco, you can see where amber, a mysterious resin turned precious jewel, is mined.

Dominican gastronomy:
A country with mixed cultures, the Dominican Republic has a cuisine influenced by the Tainos, Creoles, Europeans and Africans. If you’re curious, try the bandera, a traditional Dominican dish consisting of meat, rice, beans, plantains and salad.

Jamaica

Your dream vacation in Jamaica awaits. Frolic on the beaches, get carried away by the smooth sway of reggae, surrender to “island time,” and fall in love with the country’s mountains and sea, architecture and culture, and friendly, colourful people.

Beaches:
Stroll the length of the calm and idyllic 10-km beach in Negril. The beaches in Ocho Rios are well-developed and beloved by more active types. The south-western coast of Jamaica is even more developed, which only adds to its charm. Jamaica’s Blue Mountains attract as many hikers as they do coffee lovers. The landscapes are mind-boggling! It’s impossible to select just one cenote that you must see, but there are some that might interest you: Dos Ojos is just outside Tulum, or the intriguingly named Carwash. Or take a dip in Ox Bel Ha, the world’s largest underground cave system.

Mexican food is varied and flavoured with African, Caribbean, Asian and Middle Eastern influences. Many traditional dishes feature corn, avocado, tomatoes and beans.
